United For A Wish
United For a Wish is 500 people, united in hope, joining Scott for his final 2 days of paddle from Mannum to Murray Bridge.
- Saturday 6th December 2008 - Mannum to Murray Bridge
- Sunday 7th December 2008 - Murray Bridge to Wellington
Our journey will set out from Mannum early (6 - 8am) on Saturday morning. We will spend the day paddling the 40km stretch to Murray Bridge. At this stage we will look to camp at the Murraylands Aquatic centre on the Saturday night. Food and entertainment will be provided.
Sunday morning, after an early breakfast we will finish our journey by paddling the final 38km's to the Wellington Marina.
Due to requests from paddlers, we have added two shorter distances that can still be paddled as part of the event.
The options for paddling are now:
Paddle 1: Mannum to Wellington (2 full days)
Paddle 2: Mannum to Murray Bridge (1 full day)
Paddle 3: Sunnyside to Murray Bridge (half day)
We hope that this will encourage more paddlers to become involved, as this means that even those with little or no experience can take part in United For A Wish!
Although we will organise as many kayaks as possible, this is a BYO event. You will be responsible for your own camping, sleeping, food and transportation. Kanoe4kids will help out wherever possible.
Kanoe4kids does not ask for donations. We raise money by participation. The goal for United For a Wish is $50,000 by having 500 participate in this 2 day event.

Things to consider
- United For A Wish is a 2 day, 78km journey. It will be physically challenging. We strongly recommend pre conditioning and exercise prior to the event.
- Kanoe4kids will organise and supply a limited number of kayaks. We will then hire them to you at a fair cost.
- If you can organise your own kayak please do.
- Transportation of kayaks from and 2 the event is at the participants own organisation
- We recommend car pooling for this event and again we will help organising. We recommend leaving one car at the Wellington marina and the other car in Mannum. Participants are responsible for getting themselves to and from the event. We will certainly assist where possible.
- On inland waters kayaking is a relatively safe sport. Dangers do exist in by way of heat stroke and drowning. We do not recommend you participate if you are not a strong swimmer. We strongly recommend a diet of high energy during the two day event.
- You are responsible for your own camping equipment, personal food, and equipment. Your $100 participation fee is a donation to Kanoe4kids.
An information Pack will be sent to prior to the event.
If for some reason United For A Wish is cancelled, your payment will be refunded in full.
Please pay your $100 participation fee as early as possible. Payment of the fee is necessary within 14 days of registering.
You will be participating in the largest group of individual paddlers to travel down the bottom of the Murray. Furthermore you will be doing this to support Make A Wish Australia and kanoe4kids.
